SELF DEDICATION--THE WHITE CORD
Anyone interested in becoming a member of the 13th House Mystery School Tradition should consider the following:
Prospective White Cord Self dedicants must approach a Black Cord Elder of their choosing and request initiation. Since this must be done as an act of free will, Elders do not actively invite, enlist or court students. It should be stressed that this magical contract is a sacred trust and should be entered into with full understanding of the expectations and responsibilities entailed. Both parties need to be clear from the start as to what is involved, and agree on what is and is not included in the ‘year and a day’ relationship. There is no obligation on the part of the initiating elder to agree to a mentorship contract.
This website lists only a few of the potential initiating elders of the Tradition, all having a dedication to excellence and a level of experience as teachers, facilitators of the tradition, practitioners of the magical arts or Shamanism. Some teachers listed here may have a required or recommended course of study that is above and beyond 13th House “year and a day/tree of life” initiatory process. Others may offer an additional course of study and/or initiation that is separate from the 13th house tradition’s initiatory process.
It will be up to the prospective student/initiate to ensure that they fully understand the depth and breadth of what they are undertaking, any possible costs involved, as well as the expected time frame and participatory expectations.
Students who have taken or are taking the 13th House Introduction to Witchcraft course offered by the 13th House elders in Victoria BC will be given information regarding initiation protocols upon completion of the course, if requested, but will be required to wait until after the final class to approach an Initiating Elder of their choice. Students are often experiencing an awakening and therefore sometimes feel a sense of urgency to ‘get going’ on their magical path. They may however also be Spiritually vulnerable and even a bit overwhelmed as they are opened up to their potential as practitioners of the craft of Wicca and/or Shamanism.
For Spiritual seekers who are just stepping into this path, it is all too easy to get distracted or overwhelmed by all that is available online and through workshops and exercises in self-help style books. We encourage you to take some time and let the course settle and take the next step when you are clear that this is the best path for you. You will be encouraged to feel complete with any existing magical contracts or processes that you are involved in at present in order to focus your attention on the 13th House initiatory process.
Each initiating black cord elder will have their unique way of offering the initiatory process, and it is important that this is fully understood and agreed on. Those dedicating themselves to this path should ideally ask themselves who will be best suited to oversee their progress. Initiating elders have the right to require an opportunity to get to know the prospective student before agreeing to mentorship.
During the ensuing year and a day of providing mentorship for the White Cord dedicant their Mentor will be responsible for providing the Tree of Life initiation process. The scheduling of the Tree of Knowledge Initiatory Journey will be at the discretion of the Black Cord initiating elder. Further information regarding the initiatory process will be provided by the initiating elder who has agreed to act as mentor, teacher and guide.
